Duck Feet /
The odd relationships of images and ideas found in the Duck Feet paintings come from childhood memories associated with a favorite book, I Wish I had Duck Feet, by Dr. Seuss. In the story a boy dreams of enjoying great popularity as a result of replacing his various body parts with different animal parts; duck feet, deer antlers, a tiger’s tail, and an elephant’s trunk. Ultimately, he likes just being himself after he discovers a flaw in having each of the exotic parts. The paintings are also about trying to make one’s self more popular; the tail feathers to be more beautiful, antenna to become smarter, trunk to be more resourceful, and duck feet just to be unique.
