Welcome
Doug Anderson is an artist living in Oregon, whose work ranges widely in subject matter, media, and style. His artwork has explored the human drive for success in carnival-themed acrylic paintings, he has imprinted human body parts on packing tape and dusted them with ash and charcoal to create an alluring installation of the Greek underworld. He has embedded a sense of humor in his realistic oil paintings related to medicine. He has woven together expressive charcoal drawings in to a stop-motion animation video about Herakles. He has reflected the cultural struggles of a developing country in his acrylic paintings on Guatemalan fabrics he observed as a Peace Corps volunteer. Most recently, he has been incorporating both eastern style and Asian style brush work in mixed-media paintings of detritus found on the beaches of the Pacific Northwest to find beauty, control, and hope in a world full of chaos and consumption.
